We need Parent Members for the School Advisory Council and H&S Association!
What does this entail?
Attending and bringing your views to each Council and H&S meeting (a minimum of four per school year).
Being on a group communications list to be contacted when the Council and H&S executives
need to poll opinions before bringing issues, projects or initiatives up to the wider community
for consultation.
A parent or guardian of a student at Withrow can apply to be a member of Council by 5pm on
Nov 3, 2020 (see this online Elections Package form) and elections will occur on Nov 4 th at 7pm.
Only elected Parent Members of the Council are able to vote on Council motions, but all
meetings are open to the community to allow views to be heard.
Also only Parent Members of Council may hold an executive role on Council.
Any parent or guardian of a student at Withrow is automatically a member of Home & School
and by signing into the meeting, is able to vote on Home & School motions.
Why you?
It is important for our Council and H&S to represent the views of the current school community.
We hope to have Parent members from each grade, from French Immersion and English classes,
race, gender, and heritage diverse.
Virtual School parents are encouraged to be a part of this group.
How does this help the school?
More members will help to ensure that multiple viewpoints are represented in what the Council
and H&S advise the school on.
As a school council member, you can help your council discover new and exciting ways to
contribute to the education of students in your school. Education is a partnership involving
parents, students, teachers, principals, school boards, government, and the community. Your
involvement in the council gives you the opportunity to strengthen that partnership, and to be
part of a dedicated team working to ensure a high quality of education and an accountable
education system for the children of Ontario.
Without enough members attending our meetings, we would not be able to hold the meetings
and pass motions that could be beneficial to the school, such as the organization of community
engagement events.
Please apply or self-nominate to be a Parent Member through this form, that is considered the Election
Package for Withrow Public School for 2020-2021. Also, if you are interested in one of the executive
roles, please be sure to check that off in the form as well.
Elections will be held on Nov 4 th at the H&S/ SC meeting from 7-8:30pm.
