Home & School Association Meeting

Come and join us for our first Home and School meeting of the year! It will be held on Thurs. Oct. 11 at 7:00 pm in the library. There will be child care available for the families that need it. Our new Principal, Beverly O’Brien, will be there to open the meeting and we will cover a number of topics including:

  • Home and School’s role and mission
  • Upcoming events and noteworthy dates
  • Committees overview and ways to volunteer
  • Concerns regarding the return to the 1998 Health and Physical Education curriculum

In addition, we will hold elections for both Co-chair and Secretary for the 2018/19 school year! Interested in these positions? Click the titles for a link to job descriptions and responsibilities.

All Home & School committees and volunteer positions will be outlined further at the meeting. See you there!

Movie Night!

This year Home & School will be hosting three FREE movie nights in the gym! The first is expected to be held on Oct 19 at 6:00 pm (movie starts promptly @ 6:30pm). The date is tentative and we will keep you posted should it change. There will be free popcorn and a donation to our Home & School Association is optional. BYOWB (Bring Your Own Water Bottle)! Please note that this is a whole school community event, and NOT a drop off event – parents / guardians must supervise their children.

Annual Giving Campaign (AGC)

This year’s AGC will take place between Nov. 1 and Nov. 23. Whether it’s our ongoing commitment to providing classroom enhancements such as greening initiatives, arts and science programs and technology purchases, or projects like the new climber installation, the Annual Giving Campaign is an opportunity to donate to your kids school knowing that 100% of your money goes to them – every dollar you donate will bring us a dollar closer to our goal.

Together, we can help create the learning environment we hope for all our children. Please consider donating to the best of your abilities. Whether it’s $25, $50, $100, $500 or $1,000, every donation makes a difference.

Lost and Found

Lost and found – where your children’s great stuff they’ve misplaced in the pod and the yard goes to sit … for a long time.

Located just inside the Bain St. entrance to the right, please check the lost and found regularly if your child is missing anything. It will be fully purged in December, March, and June, with lots of notice and displays and pictures.

Please note that socks, underwear and food containers are disposed of routinely (if you have ever opened a very old food container and lived to tell the tale, you would know that the volunteers do not want to relive that experience. Ever).

The New Climbing Structure

Construction of the new climbing structure is finally well underway! Thank you to the school community for your patience with the disruption to the playground. The school has waited a long time for their new structure and we’re told it will be completed in a matter of weeks. A very big thank you to all the parent volunteers involved in the many, many years of planning and fundraising. We can’t wait to see the kids enjoying the fruits of our labour!
