Exciting news for the school yard revitalization!

We’re so pleased to share the news!  Withrow has been awarded a $8,250 grant from TD Friends of the Environment Foundation (TD FEF)!  Their generous grant has been approved to specifically fund 11 deciduous trees in our Master Plan that will be part of our tree island surrounding the new climber.  (Speaking of that new climber, please don’t forget to make your donation to the Annual Giving campaign today!)  We are so excited about this grant, our school yard revitalization is really starting to take shape!

Who is TD FEF?   td_fef

Founded by TD Bank Group in 1990, TD Friends of the Environment Foundation (TD FEF) is a national charity that funds environmental projects across Canada.  With the support of more than 150,000 donors, TD FEF has provided approximately $70 million to over 23,000 environmental projects and programs.

Thank you so much TD FEF for supporting a green Withrow!

The Withrow Greening Committee is already putting their heads together thinking about a tree planting schedule, and a maintenance schedule.  Maybe a family watering schedule or maybe Withrow classes can sign up to do watering and mulching of the new trees?  Planning is in the works and we’ll let you know in the new year.  If you have any ideas, please feel free to contact them: withrowgreening@gmail.com

As for the Pit, we’re close!.  The weather hasn’t been the easiest to work with, so the project is a bit behind schedule. We’re also waiting for the city to come and work on drainage on their end.  But it’s looking good.  Re-opening of the pit is coming soon.  Stay tuned!

Here’s how things look as of December 18th:

Asphalt poured, trees planted ... just waiting for the city...
